The Escalade can accommodate seven passengers or eight if the second-row bench seat is installed for no additional charge. While the Escalade ESV continues for an additional 15 inches, the large SUV is 81.1 inches wide and 211.9 inches long. The third row passengers in both models will have 35 inches or roughly 36.5 inches of legroom, which is almost as much as a crew cab pickup. When both rows are folded, the cargo volume increases from 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 71.9 cubic feet behind the second row, and 121 cubic feet before to 41.5, 94.1, and 142.8 cubic feet, respectively. While its low down torque may seem more suited for towing, the diesel’s ratings are 200 pounds fewer and the ESV takes off another 100 pounds. The standard-length Escalade with the gasoline engine can tow 8,200 pounds or 8,000 pounds when equipped with four-wheel drive. Although integrated brake controller and trailer blind-spot zone necessitate upgrading to the Premium Luxury trim and choosing the Performance Package, automatic leveling LED headlights are a standard feature.

A 19-speaker premium sound system with conversation enhancing features or a 36-speaker AKG sound system with integrated speakers into the roof and headrests and independent front occupant volume control is offered on the Premium Luxury and Sport trims and standard on the two Platinum trims. For charging purposes, there are seven USB ports, two 110V outlets, and a wireless phone charger onboard.

Standard on the Escalade is a 6.2-liter V8, while the 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged diesel engine costs around $2,500 more (depending on trim). The turbo engine produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 revolutions per minute (RPM), matching the output of the gasoline engine at 4,100 RPM. Both of them are connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission that drives the back wheels. A $3,000 add-on is all-wheel drive. With a diesel engine and rear-wheel drive, the fuel efficiency ranges from an EPA-estimated 23 MPG combined to 16 MPG combined with a gasoline engine and four-wheel drive. One MPG point more is achieved by the Lincoln competitor across the street, but when ratings are in the teens, every point counts. In this case, the extra MPG is worth $900 in annual fuel savings. The diesel also increases the Escalade’s range by roughly 150 miles while costing less to operate than the huge V8 (by about $1,250 yearly). The fuel efficiency statistics for the Escalade and Escalade ESV are identical.
