The New 2023 Maserati Grecale Folgore Review, Price & Release date

2023 Maserati Grecale FolgoreThe Maserati Grecale is finally here, after what seemed like an eternity of waiting, and I couldn’t be happier. For the Modena-based automaker, this is an exciting new model. Why?, Because the new Maserati Grecale isn’t just another D-segment rival. The SUV also introduces the 2023 Maserati Grecale Folgore, the Trident brand’s first-ever all-electric car. The Folgore moniker (which means “lightning” in Italian) alludes to all-electric cars from the Trident brand, with production beginning in 2024.A zero-emission powertrain will also be available for the Grecale. The Folgore, like the Grecale SUV, is built for everyday use and offers the Maserati performance expected, but with zero emissions. Rather than relying on Stelantis’ new electric platform. The Grecale is built on a modified version of the Giorgio platform, which also underlies Alfa Romeo’s Stelvio. There are obvious visual variations between the Grecale and the gas-powered Grecale.

Maserati appears to have played it safe with the Folgore’s exterior appearance, which isn’t always a negative thing. The general shape of the gas automobile has been carried through. The Folgore, on the other hand, has a concave closed-off grille, which Maserati refers to as a frame, and different styled air intakes on the bumper, all of which are highlighted by a glossy black decorative decal. While style is subjective, I find the overall appearance of Maserati’s baby SUV to be significantly more appealing.A new trident emblem, first seen on the MC20 supercar, now adorns the rear pillar, while the Folgore badge proudly stands atop the fenders. The turbo alloy wheels are extremely aerodynamic and nearly entirely enclosed. The “Copper Rame Folgore” matte paint, which is unique to the electric Grecale, is one way to spot one on the road. Inspired by the façade of the Guggenheim in Bilbao, this paint comprises iridescent pigments that dance between copper and blueish grey tones.

Maserati hasn’t released any photographs of the Grecale Folgore’s interior yet, but anticipate it to be mostly unchanged, with the digital dashboard and center console remaining. The Maserati Intelligent Assistant, or MIA, should also be carried over. The new Grecale Folgore’s sustainability was highlighted by the Italian manufacturer. This is due to its usage of “Econyl,” a novel eco-friendly material created from recycled fishing nets salvaged from the sea.

The range and performance were not specified, although two electric motors might provide around 500 kW (250 kW on each axle), or 680 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. To save energy, one of the motors, probably the front one, may be removed, giving the SUV totally two-wheel drive. The time it takes to go from zero to sixty-two miles per hour should be around three seconds, give or take. Four-wheel drive is included as standard equipment. The Folgore will have a 105 kWh battery (the brand hasn’t said if this is the net or useable capacity). Because the battery pack is 400 volts, charging will be slower than the 800-volt Macan Electric. On a single charge, this battery should be able to travel up to 434 miles.

While the Grecale GT, Modena, and Trofeo versions will be available in the United States by 2023, the Grecale Folgore will not be available until 2024. If the Grecale does actually reach 500 kW, it will overtake the Audi E-Tron S (370 kW), Mercedes-Benz EQC400 (300 kW), and Tesla Model Y Performance in the mid-size luxury electric SUV category (393 kW).With the standard Grecale costing $65,000, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Folgore costs a few thousand dollars more.
