2023 Maserati GrecaleMaserati previewed the Grecale a few years ago and said it will be available in 2021. However, due to a global chip shortage, the release date was pushed back to 2022. Now, fast forward to today, and the Maserati Grecale has arrived. The Grecale is the entry-level small luxury SUV, sitting below the Levante. However, the company has ensured that it feels unique. To begin with, it will be available in a high-performance Trofeo version, which will be driven by the same 3.0-liter V-6 engine that powers the MC20 supercar! Although it is a detuned version of the engine, it still produces over 500 horsepower.

Maserati’s trademark qualities may be found in the Grecale. Since the MC20, Maserati has followed this design language. Overall, it resembles the Levante’s younger sibling, but not a tiny Levante. The front end features tear-drop-shaped headlights that are reminiscent of the Ford Puma. Unlike most automakers these days, you get a low-profile grille that doesn’t look overly aggressive. The GT package includes 19-inch wheels with 235/55 section tires. The Modena is equipped with 20-inch wheels with 255/45 front and 295/40 rear sections. The Trofeo comes standard with 21-inch wheels. They have 255/40 section tires up front and 295/35 section tires in the back. Boomerang taillights inspired by the Giugiaro 3200 GT are found at the back. They complement the trapezoidal line and the SUV’s overall personality.Every trim has a few millimeter difference in size. In the top-spec Trofeo trim, it measures 191.3 inches long, 77.9 inches wide, and 65.3 inches tall. All three models have a wheelbase of 114.2 inches. It also happens to be the heaviest in this trim, weighing in at 4,469 pounds thanks to the V-6 engine.

In the photos, the cabin appears to be magnificent. But it’s the quantity of screens you get in here that drew our interest. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch primary touchscreen system, an 8.8-inch secondary lower display that sits beneath the main touchscreen, and a screen for the back passengers are all available. There’s also a clock face, which is technically a screen. That’s a lot of screens for a compact SUV. A 14-speaker Sonus Faber audio system is standard, with a 21-speaker arrangement available as an option.

Two engine options will be available for the Grecale. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine will power the GT and Modena variants. It produces 300 horsepower at 5,750 rpm and 332 pound-feet of torque between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm in the GT version. The same engine in the Modena produces the same torque with a slightly broader bandwidth (2,000 to 5,000 rpm), but it also produces 30 horsepower more.In terms of performance, the four-pot engine sprints to 62 mph from a standstill in 5.6 seconds in the GT trim and 5.3 seconds in the Modena trim. The GT and the Modena take 23.7 and 21.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 124 mph, respectively. As expected, the Trofeo comes out on top. From a standstill, a gallop to 62 mph takes only 3.8 seconds, while a gallop to 124 mph takes 13.8 seconds.
